Dance Program
The Arvada Center Dance Theater is the performing arm for the talented ballet and jazz dancers who train at the Center, most of whom have dreams of becoming professional dancers. These dedicated students, ages 12-18, must audition annually in front of a panel of professional dancers and instructors in order to win a position in the company. The Arvada Center Dance Theater is a very ecclectic company with a ballet and jazz division. The company is proud of it's ability to master many styles of dance from contemporary and classical ballet, jazz, lyrical and even modern and hip hop. The ACDT is always excited to perform for audiences small and large, young and old, at off site locations or here at The Arvada Center's main stage.
The company's repertoire includes some classics like Paquita and Raymonda, story ballets such as Hansel & Gretel and The Little Mermaid, emotional ballets dealing with death, loss, survival, friendship and trust and fun foot stomping pieces to pop and rock artists like Latin singer Ricky Martin, The Who and Sarah McLachlan.
The Arvada Center Dance Theater has performed at the Botanical Gardens, the Children's Museum, the Denver Public Library, the People's Fair, and the Parade of Lights. They have also collaborated with the Denver Museum of Nature and Science for the city wide Sky Exhibit as well as with the Denver Art Museum for their Impressionism Exhibit. In addition to numerous outreach performances, the Arvada Center Dance Theater performs an annual fall concert on the main stage at the Arvada Center and 2 concert series every spring.
