General Admission

Saturday, May 19 | 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.

The Arvada Center Book Fest is a one-day literary arts festival that celebrates books and reading and writing for the whole family. General admission includes:

  • Award-winning authors and poets reading and signing their books
  • All-day exhibit hall with publishers, authors, rare and used books, book-related arts, games and more
  • Pop-up bookstore with books available for purchase for all ages provided by BookBar
  • Panel discussions and staged readings
  • Children’s area with hands-on activities, storytime and live favorite characters provided by Jefferson County Libraries
  • Spelling bee, trivia and read-off contests for adults and kids
  • Onsite pop-up café, coffee shop and snack bar provided by Steuben’s, La Patisserie Francaise, and Hunter Bay Coffee
  • Tote bag, bookmark and sponsor give-a-ways

For an additional purchase, participate in writing workshops and seminars and attend a keynote with New York Times best selling author Laura Moriarty.

General Admission: Adults: $5
Children ages 3-12: $1
Children younger than 3: free

Please note: Writing workshops and tickets to the keynote include general admission to the festival so it is not necessary to purchase it separately.

A Sound Heart vs. A Deformed Conscience: The Chaperone and American Heart

New York Times best-selling author Laura Moriarty will discuss the moral dilemmas facing the heroines in her two most recent books, The Chaperone and American Heart. In both books, the characters question the moral norms of their respective time periods, ultimately deciding for themselves what is right. A feature film based on The Chaperone, starring Elizabeth McGovern, will be released by Masterpiece Theater in early 2019.

Workshops

Participate in writing workshops and seminars geared for teens and adults from the aspiring writer to the seasoned author. Learn about the business of writing, discover skills to stop procrastinating, explore a variety of genres from mystery to playwriting or even try your hand at writing a zine.

Workshops: $15 each or any two for $25, includes general admission to the Book Fest
