2010 Takashi Nakazato Information Page - PDF

Takashi Nakazato was born into one of Japan’s oldest pottery making families. His father, Taraoumon Nakazato XII, was named a Living National Treasure for reviving traditional Karatsu forms and techniques. Takashi’s work combines the traditions of his heritage with his own innovative techniques and forms. Takashi currently works in Karatsu, as well as several weeks a year at The Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass, Colorado and The Arvada Center.

Selections of the pots made at during his most recent visit to the Arvada Center were donated by Mr. Nakazato to support our ceramics education program. These pots will be on display in the theater gallery, and available for purchase.
