In conjunction with the annual Jeffco Schools High School Art Exhibition, the Arvada Center recognizes the teachers that educate and train future artists with the Jeffco Teacher Solo Exhibition. Now retired, Linda Scholes taught at Arvada High School, where Naomi Scheck, featured in the Jeffco Alumni Exhibition, was one of her students. Linda studied art at the University of Northern Colorado and the San Francisco Art Institute, and has continued studying at Anderson Ranch, Santa Fe, and the Art Students League in Denver. Carpe Diem includes examples of Linda’s recent abstract works.

Scholes states “Creativity is both necessary and fun for me. When I paint, the world goes away and time has no meaning until it becomes dark outside and my colors are no longer true. Art is when our emotions, knowledge, and fearlessness come together. Sometimes the product simply falls into place; other times it is hard-fought.”
