Memorial/Honorary Gifts

Honorary and Memorial Gifts

  • Want to support the Arvada Center and
  • Wish to honor or memorialize another individual with your financial support

The Arvada Center recognizes that your gift in honor or in memory of someone is a special, personalized way to show your loyalty or love. Honorary gifts recognize special individuals, anniversaries or events. Memorial gifts recognize lifetime accomplishments of individuals who have passed away. Honorary or memorial gifts can be unrestricted or designated for use in a particular program, for scholarships or for the endowment fund. A family member of the person being memorialized is notified of the news of donors making memorial gifts.

When making a memorial gift, simply include a note with the following information:

  • Name of the deceased
  • Name and address of the surviving family member to whom notice of this gift should be sent
  • Your name, address and phone number

If you have any questions about making an honorary or memorial gift, please feel free to contact the Development Office at 720-898-7227.

Name-A-Seat Campaign

Each year, more than 125,000 patrons, including 55,000 school children, enjoy the Arvada Center’s award-winning theater productions in the Main Stage Theater.  The original seats have been in place since the Arvada Center opened its doors in 1976, with a refurbishment in 1999.  After 36 years, it’s time for their final curtain call.

This summer, the Arvada Center’s Main Stage Theater seats will be replaced with brand new, comfortable and ergonomic seating.  This improvement, along with the Arvada Center’s award-winning theater programming is made possible by the generosity of our supporters.

Honor the “stars” in your life and Name-A-Seat!

For the 2012-2013 season, the opportunity to Name-A-Seat has been added as a benefit for annual Friends of the Center contributions.  By making your $300 Friends of the Center contribution with your theater subscription purchase, you will receive exclusive discounts and benefits – including the opportunity to Name-A-Seat! Honor the “stars” in your life by showing your support of the arts!

See our Friends of the Center benefits or contact our Development Office at 720-898-7226 for more information.

Planned Giving/Endowment

Planning for your future and ours!

Seventy-five percent of people give to charity during their lifetime, but only eight percent actually leave a gift to a non-profit organization in their estate plan. There are two major reasons for this: (1) most people don't think about the possibility and (2) they don't realize the benefits charitable bequests provide to non-profits. Planned giving is a term commonly used to describe a wide variety of giving vehicles that allow you to give to charity during your lifetime and/or after your death, while meeting your current income needs and providing for your heirs. Planned giving is typically done in conjunction with estate planning, and is a viable option for donors of all income levels.

The Arvada Center would like to familiarize you with the long-term value of remembering your favorite non-profit organization(s) in your will. For the Arvada Center, gifts made through wills and bequests become a part of our endowment, which is generally designed to keep the principal amount intact in perpetuity, with the Center drawing upon the interest only. An endowed fund is a gift that is held in perpetuity for the benefit of the Arvada Center and its programs. Endowed funds tie the donor's wishes to the organization's mission and goals, while establishing a personal legacy or memorializing a loved one. As you can imagine, building an endowment is an excellent way to insure a continuing stream of interest to sustain both our programs and physical plant for years to come – truly a gift that keeps on giving, year after year.

Many donors also like to make endowment gifts during their lifetime. By affording both perpetual funding and flexibility, the endowment fund will help the Arvada Center sustain its commitment to arts excellence. If this is of interest to you, there are a variety of different ways you can do this, including honoring loved ones with memorial gifts and giving appreciated assets for your charitable gift.

Call 720-898-7227 for more information on how your gift can make a difference at the Arvada Center.

Scholarships

Reaching For the Arts Scholarship Program

Access to the Arts
The Arvada Council for the Arts & Humanities (Arts Council), which administers the Scholarship Endowment Fund, is committed to providing tuition support for students who want to develop their talents in the arts and humanities. The Arts Council Scholarship Committee oversees six scholarship funds and awards scholarships ranging from partial to full tuition to students who demonstrate artistic talent, dedication and financial need. The Arts Council also undertakes financial development of the scholarship program in order to increase funding levels, thereby making quality arts education accessible to all segments of the community including low-income patrons.

A Legacy for the Arts
As our lifestyle has become more hectic yet sedentary, many of us are spectators rather than participants in the arts. Whether seeking self-expression, stress reduction or pure enjoyment, we recognize the importance of the arts and arts education in creating balance and completeness in our lives. If you want to promote arts education and help make it accessible, please consider making a contribution to the Scholarship Endowment Fund.

The Arts Council Scholarship Committee reviews scholarship applications and awards scholarships four times a year. Scholarship guidelines and applications are available at the Arvada Center Box Office or online at arvadacenter.org. See this application for specific deadlines. Aspiring students of all ages wishing to develop their talents in the arts and humanities are encouraged to apply. For more information, contact the Arvada Center Box Office at (720) 898-7200.
