Arvada Center Announces Auditions for
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

ARVADA, CO - Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will hold auditions for Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on Monday, September 21 and Tuesday, September 22, 2009.  The auditions will be held at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd, Arvada, CO 80003.  This production will be Directed and Choreographed by Stephen Bourneuf.  Musical Director is David Nehls. Producer is Rod A. Lansberry.
Auditions will be held on September 21 and 22, from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Auditions are by appointment only and can be scheduled by calling (720) 898-7200.

    Experienced performers with strong acting, singing and dancing abilities are needed. This is an Equity LORT B production, although non-equity actors may audition.  Actors should prepare the following:  one song in style appropriate to the show.  You may sing from the show. A headshot and a resume are required.  Please bring sheet music.  Accompanist will be provided.  No taped or acapella music allowed. Equity members please bring your current ID card.
Rehearsals for "Joseph" begin on November 3, 2009. The show opens November 24, 2009 and runs through January 3, 2010.  Performances are Tuesday through Saturday evenings with matinees on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays for a total of eight shows per week.

The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities is one of the metro area's largest cultural attractions, devoted to all aspects of the arts. It is generously supported by the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) and located two and a half miles north of Interstate 70 on Wadsworth Blvd.

Narrator    Mid 20’s-30’s.  A total entertainer; fun, loving, high energy and comfortable in all vocal styles.  Very strong contemporary belt.  Star performer.

Joseph  Charismatic leading man, mid 20’s.  A born leader.  Attractive, sexy, with a great sense of humor.  Pop rock Bari-tenor who moves well.

Pharaoh/ Brother    Attractive Elvis type mid 20’s-30’s.  Has a raw sexuality.  Fun and moves well.  Comfortable with 50’s rock and roll vocal styles.

Reuben  20’s-30’s.  Quirky with a comic flair.  Strong vocal skills.  Must move well.  French dialect.  Strong male performer.

Levi    Attractive male, 20’s-30’s.  Comfortable in Country-Western vocal styles.  Must move well.

Simeon/ Butler  20’s-30’s.  Must move well.  Quirky comic musical performer.

Napthali/ Baker 20’s-30’s.  Must move well.  Quirky comic musical performer.

Judah   Ethnic male, 20’s-30’s.  Tenor.  Comfortable in Calypso styles.  Must move well.

Jacob/ Potiphar Character male, 30’s-40’s.  Bari-Tenor.  Jacob is father to 11 brothers.  Potiphar is upper class with a trophy wife.  Some movement.

Ensemble Male Singers/ Dancers  For the Brothers.  All types and ethnicities 20’s - 30’s.  Strong singer/ dancer/ actors with good pantomime/ comedic skills.  Ensemble will also Understudy.

Ensemble Female Singers/ Dancers    Attractive singer/ dancer/ actresses.  Females include the feature of “Mrs. Potiphar” - a seductress.  Ensemble will also Understudy.
