July and August are sizzling hot at The Arvada Center

Summer at the Center offers music, dance and art for everyone

Arvada, CO - The Arvada Center is hosting some of the best talent along the front range this summer. From locally celebrated performing groups to national tours, the Arvada Center is the place to be!

Summer at the Center is a multi-faceted offering of performances and visual arts. CenterFest, a summer long collaboration is presented weekly in the Arvada Center’s 1600 seat outdoor amphitheater and showcases some of the best performing arts groups in the metro area. Now in its third year the series features 21 performing groups including Fiesta Colorado La Magia de Mexico, the Colorado Symphony’s annual Tribute to Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops with an additional concert presentation, Mozart Under the Moonlight and a special two night staging of the prestigious Colorado Shakespeare Festival’s family classic Treasure Island

Nobody in Particular Presents Summer Concert Series sponsored by KBCO 97.3, continues with a stellar line up of national acts including Aaron Neville, Los Lobos and Pink Martini. Now in its third year, this concert series has become a vital part of the national touring circuit for many artists.

Continuing through August 26 in the three galleries at the Arvada Center is FACES, PLACES & SPACES. FACES, in the main gallery, goes beyond the traditional portrait show focusing only on the face, the quintessential expression of humanity. Through painting, photography and sculpture, PLACES, in the upper gallery, highlights the juxtaposition of the interior, intimate and exterior, urban spaces created by humans. SPACES, in the theater gallery and in collaboration with Michele Mosko features large encaustic work by Earl Schofield and ethereal paintings by Lanny DeVuono, two artists who tackle open spaces. New this summer is the introduction of “Smart Art”, exciting, interactive technology that will allow patrons to use their personal smart phones to connect with the artists in dynamic and interesting ways.

The Summer at the Center Plaza opens at 6 p.m., gates open for seating at 6:30 p.m. and performances begin at 7:30 p.m. All shows will be performed rain or shine. Pack a picnic (no glass please) and come early to visit the many informational booths staffed by local cultural organizations. Concessions including food, non-alcoholic beverages, beer and wine are also available for purchase. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.SummerAtTheCenter.com or by calling 720-898-7200, and by visiting the Arvada Center box office at 6901 Wadsworth Blvd. in Arvada.
