New Theater Academy Company opens Fall 2012
Young adults seeking high-level, in-depth theater instruction are invited to audition for the new Arvada Center Theater Academy. The Theater Academy offers talented youth, ages 13 – 18, a small-enrollment, intensive program of theater instruction.
This program is designed for serious actors who are interested in progressing as an artist and who desire a career in acting.
Theater Academy Company actors perform in two productions each year and deepen their skills and knowledge in the areas of character work, scene study, auditioning, and production training.
Our theater company students interact with professional directors, choreographers, actors and technical theater experts in a professional theater environment. With a Lort B Actors’ Equity theater producing eight productions each season, the Arvada Center has the resources and professional expertise to provide youth actors a unique theatrical experience and instruction.
Our goal is to inspire students to grow as theater artists through their exposure to theater professionals.
Auditions for the 2012/2013 season will be held on
Monday, August 27 from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
Actors age 13-18 who are interested in a comprehensive, school-year-long theater training in a professional setting are welcome to audition. For the audition, students should prepare a one to two minute memorized monologue or reading as well as 16-24 bars of music (accompanist provided).
Audition times should be reserved in advance by calling 720-898-7200.
Questions should be directed to Lisa Leafgreen, Education Coordinator at 720-898-7236.

We encourage our Theater Academy Company actors to participate in their school performing arts programs. Our goal is to support and compliment these programs, not replace them.
Student actors who are accepted into the company should plan on attending rehearsals 3-4 evenings each week each semester. Our fall, winter and spring semesters are 6 weeks long and culminate in a production on the Arvada Center Main Stage and Black Box Theaters or in a mock audition in front of a professional director, producer and/or choreographer.
