About the Arvada Center Galleries

Galleries at the Arvada Center host a dozen or more fine art exhibitions each year in three distinctive galleries with 10,000 square feet of space. The Arvada Center prides itself on keeping its gallery and  museum exhibitions FREE and open to the public seven days a week, something that it has done since inception in 1976.

The Arvada Center Galleries are open Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m.to 6:00 p.m.; Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Sunday 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. The galleries remain open until 7:30 p.m. on evenings with theatre performances. Free docent-led tours of the gallery exhibitions and history museum are available to groups of five or more. To schedule a tour call the Arvada Center's gallery/museum tour line at 720-898-7255 (please provide at least one week's notice, tour guides are not always available).

Art of the State 2019

January 17 - March 31, 2019

The Arvada Center is proud to present Art of the State 2019 , the latest installment in our critically acclaimed Colorado artist exhibition. This juried exhibition showcases the quality, depth, and diversity of Colorado artists and is the follow-up to the very successful Art of the State 2013 , and Art of the State 2016 . In its third iteration, Art of the State 2019 garnered 1,555 entries from 566 artists in a call for entry that was open to all Colorado artists utilizing all media. Jurors selected 154 pieces by 135 Colorado artists to be presented at the Arvada Center. With three art galleries covering over 10,000 square feet, the Center looks forward to hosting this immense celebration of local art in Colorado.

An Arvada Center favorite! For an incredible 48 years, this exhibition has encouraged and supported tomorrow’s artists from the Jefferson County school district, many of whom go on to thrive as professional artists, or become teachers themselves. The exhibition features more than 400 works from 23 Jefferson County high schools. You do not want to miss this exhibition featuring the next generation of artists.


Austin Parkhill: Unselfie - Jeffco Alumni Exhibition

The Arvada Center welcomes back Austin Parkhill who began his artistic career in the Arvada Center’s Jefferson County High School Art Exhibition. Parkhill attended Arvada West High School from 1999 – 2003 and went on to receive his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Colorado State University. Now a talented professional artist, he returns this spring to exhibit his large-scale photorealistic paintings. Parkhill was a student of featured Jeffco Teacher Keith Oelschlager.


Keith Oelschlager: Personality of Place - Jeffco Alumni Exhibition

Teachers who guide and inspire their students are an important part of the Jeffco High School Art Exhibition, and many teachers are artists themselves. The Jeffco Teacher Solo Exhibition highlights one such teacher and artist, and this year, Keith Oelschlager will exhibit his paintings of notable places around the Denver Metro area. Oelschlager teaches at Arvada West High School and was featured alumni artist Austin Parkhill’s teacher.

Come and shop for a functional, handcrafted gift or a one-of-a-kind art piece for yourself or a friend! Presented by Arvada Center’s nationally recognized faculty of ceramic instructors, and advanced students. Proceeds benefit the participating artists and the Arvada Center Ceramics Studio.


Blurring the Line: Form, Function, Design

June 6 – August 25, 2019

Opening Reception Thursday June 6, 6 – 9 p.m., Free and Open to the Public
This exhibition will include works that blur the distinction between function and form. The Main gallery will highlight furniture, ceramics, and lighting, while the Upper and Theatre galleries will highlight wearable items and jewelry. Check back for participating artists and more details!


Colorado Abstract: A Survey

September 12 – November 17, 2019

The Arvada Center for Arts and Humanities is proud to partner with the Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the 2009 book Colorado Abstract: Paintings and Sculpture, by Michael Paglia and Mary Voelz Chandler, a landmark publication that records the history of abstraction by artists in the state. As in the book, Kirkland Museum will explore the history and development of this artistic style in Colorado with an exhibition of two and three-dimensional artworks. The Arvada Center will exhibit a contemporary survey of the work of artists originally included in the publication and additional artists working in abstraction that also have had an impact on Colorado's art scene.
