Accepting applications for fall exhibition Art and Conflict & 2017 Fine Art Market

ARVADA CO — The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities is accepting applications for two upcoming gallery exhibitions; Art and Conflict (September 14 – November 12, 2017) and the 2017 Fine Art Market Show and Sale (November 30 - December 17, 2017). Art and Conflict will take place in the Arvada Center's Main Gallery from September 14 - November 12, 2017, in conjunction with an exhibition of posters from World War One, to commemorate the centenary of this conflict. The Arvada Center is seeking works from artists that address conflict and war, and the role art and/or the artist can play in commemorating or explaining past conflict, or expose and express issues surrounding current or future conflict. This juried exhibition is open to all Colorado artists ages 18+ in all media.

Eligibility and important restrictions to note:
Any artist currently residing in Colorado and over the age of 18 is encouraged to apply. Artworks submitted must be available for sale, original, and created in the last 2 years. Framed works cannot exceed 6 ft. in any direction, and any wall work cannot weigh over 100 lbs. Sculpture cannot exceed 8 ft. in any direction. No work will be accepted that has been shown at the AC previously.

The Exhibition program's annual fundraiser provides a unique and convenient shopping experience for patrons from November 30 – December 17, 2017. The show and sale feature more than 100 acclaimed Colorado artists working in a variety of media. Participating artists are both invited and juried into the sale. The Arvada Center exhibition committee reviews all applications and aims to present a show and sale with a variety of unique, handmade items.

About the Arvada Center Galleries: 
Galleries at the Arvada Center host a dozen or more fine art exhibitions each year in three distinctive galleries with 10,000 square feet of space. The Arvada Center prides itself on keeping its gallery and museum exhibitions free and open to the public seven days a week, something that it has done since inception in 1976.

The Arvada Center Galleries are open Monday - Friday 9:00 6:00 p.m.; Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Sunday 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. The galleries remain open until 7:30 p.m. on evenings with theatre performances.
