Arvada Center Theater Academy Company

The Arvada Center Theater Academy offers talented youth, ages 13 – 18, a small-enrollment, high-level, in-depth program of theater Youth Teen Theater Academy Company instruction. This program is designed for serious actors who are interested in progressing as an artist and who desire a career in acting. Theater Academy Company actors perform in two productions each year and deepen their skills and knowledge in the areas of character work, scene study, auditioning, and production training.

The Arvada Center Theater Academy Company has been cast for the 2013/14 season.

Our theater company students interact with professional directors, choreographers, actors and technical theater experts in a professional theater environment. With a Lort B Actors’ Equity theater producing eight productions each season, the Arvada Center has the resources and professional expertise to provide youth actors a unique theatrical experience and instruction. Our goal is to inspire students to grow as theater artists through this exposure to theater professionals.

A sophisticated and honest look at relationships from Stephen Sondheim, musical theatre's most renowned composer, COMPANY is largely regarded as a trailblazer of the dark-comedy, modern-musical genre. On the night of his 35th birthday, confirmed bachelor Robert contemplates his unmarried state. Over the course of a series of dinners, drinks, and even a wedding, his friends -- "those good and crazy people married friends" -- explain the pro's and con's of taking on a spouse. The habitually single Robert is forced to question his adamant retention of bachelorhood during a hilarious, yet accurate, array of interactions.

Arvada Center Theater Academy Company Director

Gavin Mayer Gavin Mayer, director of Theater Academy Company at Arvada Center recently directed the Arvada Center’s critically acclaimed Main Stage production of Legally Blonde and Legally Blonde Teen Intensive production. He also directed the Arvada Center’s Teen Intensive productions of All Shook Up and Hairspray, the Musical . Mr. Mayer recently received his Master of Fine Arts degree in Directing from Florida State University. He served as the Director of Theatre at Pomona High School for 10 years and is a past recipient of The Jefferson County “Inspiration Through Creativity Award,” The Jeffco Schools “Commitment to Diversity Award” and was recognized by KUSA-TV Channel 9NEWS as one of “9Teachers Who Care.”


Tuition and Schedule

Tuition of $1325 includes all rehearsal and performance fees (payment plan is available).

Spring 2014 Semester:  Mon., Tues, & Thurs., Mar. 31-May 22, 6:15-8:15pm and Tue.-Sat., May 28-May 31, and Mon.-Fri., June 2-June 6, 4:30-9:30pm.

We encourage our Theater Academy Company actors to participate in their school performing arts programs. Our goal is to support and compliment these programs, not replace them.
Student actors who are accepted into the company should plan on attending rehearsals 3-4 evenings each week each semester. Our fall, winter and spring semesters are 6 weeks long and culminate in a production on the Arvada Center Main Stage and Black Box Theaters or in a mock audition in front of a professional director, producer and/or choreographer.
