Arvada Center Audition Announcement: 3rd Annual Playwrights Showcase of the Western Region

ARVADA, CO - The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will hold auditions for the 3rd Annual Playwrights Showcase of the Western Region's production of A Lesser Life on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. The auditions will be held at the Arvada Center, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd. Auditions are by appointment only, and can be made by calling (720) 898-7200. Callbacks will be held on the following day, Wednesday, April 25 from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. This is a Non-Equity production, produced by the Playwrights Showcase.
A Lesser Life will be directed by Christy Montour-Larson. Performers 18 years and older are needed. Roles are available for five women who can play early 20s to mid-30s and four men who can play mid-30s to mid-40s. Asian and Asian-American male actors are encouraged to audition. All roles are Non-Equity; there is a small stipend for all roles. Actors should prepare a one minute monologue. A resume and headshot are required. No scripts are available. Rehearsals will be held on evenings in June from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m.; specific dates to be determined. The performance is on Saturday, July 21, 2007.
The four-day Showcase will take place July 18 - 21, 2007 at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities. It will feature staged readings of new plays by playwrights living in the western states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. The event is designed for playwrights, producers, directors, actors, educators and community members who are interested in sharing in an experience that celebrates contemporary theatre arts. Conference attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in workshops and panel discussions with experts in the dramatic arts, and network with their peers.
