Music With a View: Columbine String Quartet

Originating in Hungary, this quartet has spent the last 10 years in the United States performing a variety of music ranging from the Beatles to classical favorites. Their program features two outstanding selections from the Classical period -- Hayden’s Opus 76, No. 5 in D major and Beethoven’s Opus 18, No. 4 in C minor. The quartet has played on numerous community concert programs in Denver, Boulder, Estes Park and the surrounding Rocky Mountain Region. Since 1992, the quartet has played at the Boulder Bach Festival, the Chautauqua Community House, the Stanley Hotel Music Hall, the Univeristy of Colorado faculty recitals and the Boulder Public Library.

The quartet is composed four women, Annamaria Karacson (violin), Gyongycer Petheo (violin), Nancy Headlee (viola) and Karen Lee-Terbeek (cello). Karacson and Petheo completed their studies at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary. All of them have individually played with various orchestras and symphonies throughout the United States. Karacson, Petheo and Headlee have also played internationally with various symphonies in Hungary and Mexico.

The Music with a View Series offers patrons an intimate concert experience amid some of the best contemporary artwork in the nation. Held in the Center’s lower gallery, audiences will enjoy wonderful music among the creative works of the “Jefferson County High Schools Art Exhibition” that features over 500 works of art by Jefferson County high school students, all in one sitting.
