The Arvada Center Announces Auditions for Miss Nelson Is Missing!

ARVADA, CO – The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will hold auditions for Miss Nelson is Missing! on Monday, July 23, 2007 at the Arvada Center. This production will be directed by Edith Weiss.
Auditions will be held on July 23 from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Auditions are by appointment only and can be scheduled by calling (720) 898-7200.
Auditioners must be 18 years of age or older for all roles. Ethnic minorities and cultural varieties are encouraged to audition for all roles. Roles are available for six actors; three male and three female. Complete character descriptions are attached and can also be found online at www.arvadacenter.org/on-stage/auditions. All roles are non-equity and paid. Actors should prepare a 1-1/2 minute comic monologue and 16 – 32 bars of a contemporary song. Auditioners should know the complete song but may only be required to perform 16 bars. Please have proper sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. No taped music or a cappella allowed. A resume and headshot are required.
Rehearsals for Miss Nelson is Missing! will begin Wednesday, September 5, 2007, with the show opening on Tuesday, September 25, 2007, running through November 2, 2007. The performances are on various weekdays at 10:00 a.m. and Noon and Sundays October 14, 21 and 28 at 1:00.and 3:00 p.m.

Character Descriptions for Miss Nelson is Missing!
Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities
Female to play Miss Nelson, a sweet teacher, and also play Miss Viola Swamp, a mean teacher. Must be able to sing alto to mezzo soprano.
Male to play three diverse roles: Pop Hanson, the Janitor/Narrator; Mr. Blandsford, the Principal; and Detective McSmogg. Must be able to sing baritone to tenor.
Male to play Adam, a kid 10 to 12 years old from Room 207. Tenor.
Female to play Allison, a kid 10 to 12 years old from Room 207. Soprano.
Female to play Cheryl, a kid 10 to 12 years old from Room 207. Alto.
Male to play Gregory, a kid 10 to 12 years old from Room 207. Baritone.
