The Arvada Center Chorale with Pete Wernick

June 14, 2002

Audience members will celebrate Flag Day in the outdoor amphitheater with a patriotic musical celebration by the Arvada Center Chorale with bluegrass pioneer Pete Wernick. Songs will include "(You’re a) Grand Old Flag," "Shenandoah," "From a Distance" and "America the Beautiful." Known to fans as Dr. Banjo, Wernick has been the hot-picking force in several trendsetting bands including Hot Rize and its alter ego Red Knuckles and the Trailblazers. His current performances center around appearances with The Live Five and a duet with his singer/guitarist wife Joan. The Arvada Center Chorale, under the direction of Keith Arnold, is a resident company of the Arvada Center. America the Beautiful will feature a piece led by guest conductor emeritus Rex Nelson who was the first director of the Arvada Center Chorale.
