Arvada Center Selected to Participate in National Sustainability Initiative for Arts Organizations
December 8, 2010
The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities has been selected to participate in the New Pathways for the Arts, a national training program established by EmcArts and supported locally by the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation.
New Pathways for the Arts is a training program for a cohort of arts organizations operating in a shared community setting. Designed and led by EmcArts, a leading not-for-profit intermediary for arts funders, the program features two complementary and simultaneous components. The first is a series of Community Convenings involving 15 arts organizations in the Denver area. The second is an intensive Core Program that involves an in-depth analysis of the structure of an organization and addresses specific challenges. The Arvada Center been selected to participate in both components during the next ten months.
“We are grateful that the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation has taken an active role in supporting this new and critically important initiative for Denver arts organizations,” said Gene Sobczak, executive director of the Arvada Center. “This program provides the framework, tools, and an experienced facilitator to help organizations, like ours, identify new ways for doing our business better.”
The New Pathways for the Arts initiative, which is designed to foster sustainability and new thinking, is being implemented through programs and regional communities. Denver is the second city in the nation to participate in the New Pathways for the Arts initiative; New Haven, Conn., is the first.
The results from this training program will provide insights, understandings, and strategies to help each arts organization become more efficient and more financially sustainable.
Dedicated on July 4, 1976, the Arvada Center, www.arvadacenter.org, was founded through a unique collaboration between the citizens and government of Arvada. Since its inception, the Arvada Center has offered year-round concerts and performances in theater and dance; art exhibitions; a history museum; and classes in ceramics, dance, writing, acting, and the visual and musical arts. The Arvada Center welcomes more than 350,000 visitors each year.
