Join BIG INK at the Arvada Center for an epic, hands-on printmaking experience!

Participants will carve their own large-scale woodblock between 24" x 36" and 40" x 96" — at home, then bring it to life on BIG INK’s custom-built mobile printing press, The Big Tuna.

This is your chance to create something monumental, connect with fellow artists, and learn directly from Lyell Castonguay, BIG INK’s founder and award-winning printmaker. Whether you’re an experienced artist or a beginner, you’ll receive online and in-person instruction to help your vision come to life.

Participants will receive seven hours of in-person instruction from Lyell Castonguay, learning how to apply ink and print their woodblock on BIG INK’s mobile press, The Big Tuna. You’ll also have access to BIG INK’s Woodblock Printmaking Online Master Class for one year, providing additional guidance and tips for carving at home. Multiple impressions of your print, a sample kit of supplies and paper, and a feature in BIG INK’s online Hall of Fame are included.

BIG INK provides ink, paper, and printing materials, while participants supply their own wood and carving tools. Recommended woods include Cherry Plywood, Shina Plywood, or MDF (3/8"–1/2" thick), with an estimated materials cost of around $100. Artists can work solo or in teams of up to three, and oversized blocks can be shipped with advance notice or cut into sections for easier transport.

Beginners are welcome, and no prior carving experience is required. Prints are created in black ink on white Masa paper. Workshop fees are non-refundable, but if the event is canceled, participants may transfer to another session or receive a partial refund.
