About the Artist
Doug Wilson was a Boulder-based artist who was born in Fort Collins in 1942. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1968 from Colorado State University, and continued creating sculpture upon his death in 2011.
Mary Chandler and Michael Paglia wrote in 2009’s Colorado Abstract about his work “His sculpture has always been about contrast: warm against cool, hard against soft, curve against line, and smooth against taticle. In the 1980’s, Wilson was amoung the co-founders of FORM, a group of like-minded area sculptors who worked in abstraction.”
Doug Wilson passed away on August 28, 2011 at the age of 69. He is survived by his wife, Donna; children Doug. Jr. (Barb), Deb (Jeff) Palmer, Don (Traci); eight grandchildren Ashley, Rachel, & Meagan Wilson, Bailey, Shelbey, & Jack Palmer, Collin & Tanner Wilson.
