The Henry Awards honor the best in Denver-area theater among the Colorado Theatre Guild’s (CTG) member organizations. Yesterday afternoon, CTG announced its 2009 nominations and the Arvada Center led all companies with 25 nods, built largely on the strength of 18 nominations for “Les Miserables” – more than any other theater company combined. The Denver Center Theatre Company was next with 16 nominations, followed by 10 each for Curious, Boulder’s Dinner Theatre and Vintage Theatre.
Although Arvada Center productions and performers are no strangers to the Henry’s – in 2008, “La Cage aux Folles†received three awards, including Outstanding Production of a Musical – this is the largest number of nominations the Center has received in the history of the awards. A sense of pride and joy should be felt throughout Arvada for the outstanding work performed by our theater department, led by Rod Lansberry. This recognition has been long in coming. It is due and indisputably deserving. Bravo to all!
