About Lucero
By Andy Rodriguez
Lucero is a country rock band that mixes in a bit of Memphis soul, from their hometown, into their music. Since their start in the 90’s they’ve created an extensive discography of 12 albums, including a short film featuring Michael Shannon. Now they’re bringing their performance to the Outdoor Amphitheatre stage here at the Arvada Center on August 11, 2023, alongside their openers, The Barlow.
This band got their start in 1998, while being based out of Memphis, Tennessee, they have kept busy as this prolific band toured all over and earned the title of being one of the hardest working bands at the moment. The thing that makes this latest performance special, is that, while it has seen changes in members throughout the years, this latest iteration of the band has all its original members. With Ben Nichols as the frontman, he’s joined by Roy Berry on the drums, John C. Stubblefield on the bass, Rick Steff on keys, and Brian Veneble on guitar.
Alongside Lucero comes the local band, The Barlow, for the opening act of the night. The Barlow is a southern rock country band based out of Arvada, Colorado whose music pairs well with Lucero. With the release of their third album, “New Year, Old Me” you’ll hear a fresh spin on a familiar sawdust-floor friend. Having outlaw country and southern rock styling influencing their music, these mile-high country beats are ones that can’t be missed!
