When we first started the Front Porch Series, we created it as an alternative to our larger Summer Concert Series in our Outdoor Amphitheatre since touring acts couldn’t travel. By creating a new smaller series on our front porch plaza, we were able to book more local acts, and it has proved to be so popular that we are now beginning our third season on June 30.
Get to know the music of some of the acts playing and join us for our third season of the Front Porch Series!
The Sweet Lillies – June 30
This Americana string-band creates a universally-appealing sound that still sounds distinctly Colorado. Based in Boulder, The Sweet Lillies have made a big impact on the local music and festival scene with their positive sound brought forth by uplifting songs, introspective lyrics, and heavily-layered strings.
Their musical chemistry is so strong that they managed to release two full-length albums during the pandemic, with their latest album Common Ground being produced by Timothy Carbone of Railroad Earth.
Winning “Best Blues Band in Denver” multiple times in Reader’s Choice Denver Westword polls, The Delta Sonics take the Chicago blues sound, mix it with swing, New Orleans R&B, and early rock and roll, and then shoot it all back out with a high-energy vibe that gets even people that don’t dance moving. From hot guitar licks to rowdy harmonica runs, The Delta Sonics play both covers and original tunes in an authentic way that pays respect to blues history.
Colorado’s premier Bob Marley tribute band has been paying homage and putting creative twists onto the Bob Marley catalog since 2013, playing at beloved venues including The Fox Theatre, The Boulder Theater, Cervantes, The Belly-Up and more. While the song selections are familiar, Wake Up and Live make everything fresh by taking an improvisational approach to the music.
Simply put, El Javi soothes the soul. His instrumental approach to flamenco, prog rock, world music, classical, and folk has won him fans from many generations, and his music reached millions being featured in the Coors Light national campaign “My Climb, My Music.” Armed with an acoustic flamenco guitar, El Javi mesmerizes and leaves audiences yearning for more.
With an Israeli background adding a special edge to her funk sound, Daniella Katzir creates a seductive but danceable atmosphere at her shows. With a tight precision band backing her up, Daniella captures the audience’s attention with her quick, smooth vocals, and fun covers from multiple genres that take you on a musical journey.
Space Funk Jerry: A Tribute to Jerry Garcia – August 4
Manitou Springs native Dave Abear (aka A’Bear) is local jam royalty, a founding member of Brother Kind and touring musician with Melvin Seals and JGB who continue the legacy of the Jerry Garcia Band. With Space Funk Jerry, Dave gives special focus to the 70s-funk style Jerry perfected with side project Legion of Mary (with Merl Saunders). This spacey, exploratory jam sound goes perfectly with a night under the stars in our front plaza.
