Jefferson County Public Library and the Arvada Center are proud to present this free community event celebrating the season!
This fall at the Arvada Center, we want to invite families to celebrate the spooky season with us through the joy of reading. Our Drag Queen Storytime isn't just for little kids. We are opening up our doors for one day to all the ghosts and goblins around, so please come dressed in your favorite Halloween costumes or fall attire and remember, drag is for all!
Join Miss Shirley as she reads some of her favorite children's books! An accomplished storyteller, Miss Shirley uses stories to celebrate the diversity of our big, beautiful world through the glamorous art of drag. Her Drag Queen Storytime program encourages creativity, curiosity, and of course, a love for reading.
Miss Shirley leads an interactive storytime with questions, personal stories, and a special Q&A segment, “Ask the Drag Queen.” Guests will also have the chance to take photos with Miss Shirley, capturing the colorful vibe of Halloween. Don’t be surprised if an impromptu dance party takes off and gets more than just werewolves howling. We welcome families to join us in the back, where we will have a fun and festive craft for the kids; it’s all part of the spooky magic!
Some possible book titles include: Perfectly Norman by Tom Percival and Be Who You Are by Todd Parr.
